Charity Of The Year
Rockinghorse Children’s Charity exists to support sick and disabled children from across Sussex. The charity is best known as the official fundraising arm of The Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (The Alex), which is the only children’s hospital in Sussex and looks after 45,000 children every year. Rockinghorse is also the main charity that supports the Trevor Mann Baby Unit in Brighton and the Special Care Baby Unit at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath.
Rockinghorse run a campaign called Sussex Giving for Sussex Children, which enables them to raise funds for a wide range of paediatric care services across the county. This includes supporting the Children’s wards at all Sussex Hospitals. At Christmas they donated new toys and games to the Bluefin ward at Worthing Hospital and Howard ward at St Richard’s in Chichester. Recently they committed to funding a portable lung function machine for Worthing Hospital to help give the best possible care to children with respiratory conditions such as Asthma and Cystic Fibrosis, thanks to donations like this, Worthing Hospital Cystic Fibrosis and Chest Centre is a centre of excellence in providing care to West Sussex children.
What are we doing?
We are doing our bit by taking on the ‘Go for Goals’ challenge. This is where we see how many goals each of us can score in one hour. It is important to us that we take part in helping raise money as the charity don’t receive any government funding. Therefore, they rely solely on the generous support of people like you and us.
